Alex Caton and Pat Egan: 20 March 2015

Monkey House partners with Shadow Lake Village--1741 Ginger Lane

Alex is a grandchild of master craftsmen, coal miners and strong women, and when she was 12, her parents moved from England to the US. By then, Alex had been playing piano and violin for eight years, and music proved to be a constant in her life. At twenty, Alex was introduced to Appalachian old time and Irish fiddle music and felt like she had stumbled upon a secret. Since then she has dedicated her life to playing traditional music.

Pat is originally from County Tipperary.  In the early 1990’s, Pat visited the U.S. to play at the famed McGurk’s in St. Louis, Missouri with piper Michael Cooney and County Clare accordion player Nuala Hehir. Shortly after, he was invited back to the U.S. by the great accordion player Paddy O’Brien to form the band Chulrua.  Three Cds later, he left the band to work on his own.

Alex and Pat have been playing music together for over a decade. Their recent CD, Fiddle tunes and Ballads, is a mix of wonderful songs and tunes that will warm your heart and relax your mind and have you tapping your feet. This is a unique chance to catch them in a wonderful setting.
