After months of remodeling, Our first show of 2012 was fabulous.  The weather cooperated, and, despite a severe afternoon storm, we had a lovely evening, with a comfortable breeze and moonlight.  Pierce and Grace were wonderful, individually and together.

August 4: Grace and Pierce Pettis

 Pierce has been releasing albums since 1984 on a range of labels (High Street and now Compass Records). Known as a songwriter's songwriter (his songs have been recorded by Joan Baez, Garth Brooks, and many others), Pierce is often described as someone who "writes literature."  His music will touch a place deep inside you.  His daughter Grace also has the touch of a poet in her lyrics, and her songwriting and singing have received many recent accolades: She won Mountain Stage's New Song contest in 2009 (with "Nine to Five Girl") and was named one of the winners of the Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk artist contest in 2011.

Grace Pettis won the Kerrville Festival songwriting competition in 2011, just as her father had in 1987 --the year she was born.  Having also won the Dallas Wildflower Festival and NPR Mountain Stage's songwriting competitions, her debut album garnered international acclaim in Maverick (UK), iTunes, and the Dallas Morning News.  Her 2nd release is due in September!
